I’ve known I wanted to work in the field of mental health since I was 9 years old. Through experience with family, I decided that I wanted to do for others what had been done for us. As I grew up and observed challenges of others, my passion for supporting others ignited further. I am inspired by my clients and witnessing their journeys of self-discovery and healing. When working with clients I engage in active listening, use of open ended and clarifying questions, and summarizing what I’ve heard. I utilize empathy as well as validate and normalize a client’s experiences and feelings.
I understand that therapy is not a one size fits all, a person’s story, experiences, struggles are unique to them. It’s important to meet clients where they are and identify where they want to be. Together we identify what does and does not work for them, and I encourage and welcome feedback. My interpersonal approach to therapy is transparent, culturally sensitive, non-judgmental, warm, and validating. I provide a safe and supportive environment for clients’ journey of self-discovery. I strive to empower clients to recognize their strengths and become the best version of themselves.
