Growing up I was a curious and open-minded child, who often found myself noticing and listening to others to want to understand the reasons people behaved the way they did. Having the qualities of empathy and nurturing, I looked into what I could do to be able to offer help to others to make a positive impact on their lives. I want people to know that things do not have to continue to be the way they’ve been. Therapy can help those who are suffering be able to heal and grow.
All of us have the need to be heard and understood. One way that I do that is by tuning into client’s needs. When feelings are uncomfortable, I hold space with a client by “walking alongside” them, without judgment, demonstrating compassion and encouragement to grow their capacity with what they can tolerate, building resilience.
I believe establishing trust between therapist and client is based on mutual respect, empathy, and comfortable connection. Once rapport is built, it can allow for a collaborative partnership. I aim to create a space for clients to openly share their thoughts and feelings, leading to a more productive therapeutic process. As we go on this journey, I tailor goals to what clients are coming in with to create lasting change.
