What inspired me to become a therapist were the people around me. I was fortunate enough to have positive relationships that helped me overcome hardships and difficulties in life. Because of that, I understand the importance of have someone in your life that can be understanding, supportive, and at times challenging to overcome barriers.
Everyone is on a different part of their journey and my goal is to meet clients where they are at. I understand that sometimes our journeys are non-linear. We experience setbacks, progress is made, we get thrown additional challenges, or sometimes we get stuck. I use active listening and check-ins with my clients to be aware of where they are and cater my interventions to fit what is needed. I believe developing a strong therapeutic alliance is an importance factor in therapy. I build rapport with my clients by taking the time to get to know them as individuals, being open and transparent of what can be expected of therapy and how we can reach their goals together.
