Life comes with challenges. Some we can manage on our own and others that are easier to navigate with some help. I am here to help guide you to create the life you have always imagined.
I am a graduate of Alliant International University, where I completed my M.A. in couple and family therapy. I chose this program for its emphasis on the multicultural aspects of individual, family and couple relationships, which was influenced by 10 years of working in residential management where people would often share stories about their lives and how their culture influenced the choices they made. And, while I was always drawn to ‘be a therapist’ when I grew up, I made my career change after experiencing my own mental health deterioration and experiencing significant life improvement after my own personal therapy in a nonjudgmental and safe space.
I find It a privilege to work with many people from an array of cultural and SES backgrounds, who have experienced symptoms of anxiety, depression, PTSD, dissociation, and interpersonal relationship issues. I believe these symptoms often stem from a history of traumatic events and attachment wounds (a sense of betrayal from the people we were closest to) and affect our daily lives. My focus has been on helping people heal from the difficulties they have experienced within interpersonal relationships and single events. Many of my clients, while working in non-profit organizations and community mental health, have been survivors of domestic violence, childhood abuse and neglect, and sexual assault. Most recently, while working for a rural community health center, I helped to develop an integrative mental health program where I was the liaison between medical teams and clients who could benefit from psychotherapy. Within this program, I was able to help people resolve anxiety and depression symptoms with brief therapy.
