I am a board-certified PMHNP who became a provider because I wanted to help people. I believe that mental health has a poor stigma attached to it and often times, it goes underserved. My care philosophy is that I believe in treating the clients as if I were treating myself. I feel that mental health is a hard part of medicine and doing it alone just makes it harder, but, having family and friends to support the client along the way makes the major difference in success and failure. My biggest professional impact is helping those with chronic mental illnesses find hope in their disorder. Being able to say that I helped a chronic paranoid schizophrenic client overcome their paranoia to the point that they are not causing behavioral problems at home means the world to me. It makes all the hard work worth it. My favorite population to work with is the mood disorder because they are difficult and a challenge and they have stories that will shock you. I feel it is my job to help them.
