Wendy Chan, LMFT
Wendy Chan (she/her/hers) is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who received her M.A. in Counseling Psychology from John F. Kennedy University in Pleasant Hill, California with an emphasis in Transpersonal Psychology. Transpersonal therapy aims to integrate the spiritual, social, emotional, intellectual, physical and creative aspects of the Self while viewing emotional dysfunction as opportunities for self awareness and development. Before joining Foresight Mental Health, Wendy provided individual, family and group therapy in community mental health centers all over the Bay Area. Wendy also provided individual counseling to high school students in various public and charter high schools and experienced working with students who have special education plans and those who have experienced sexual assault Wendy is also a California certified sexual assault counselor and will soon be on the Brainspotting therapy certification track.
The goal of her work with clients is to establish a trusting and nurturing relationship in order to inspire hope for healing and transformation. She provides a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space where clients are free to explore difficult and unwanted feelings such as fear, shame, guilt, anger, frustration, loneliness, grief, insecurity, helplessness and inadequacy. She is an empathic and objective listener who believes that psychotherapy is an individual process that can be difficult but can promote lasting change. She likes to use meditation, guided visualization, dream work, expressive art, music, journaling, mindfulness practices, enneagram and other techniques that can help create meaning in life. She helps clients develop healthy communication skills, acquire new perspectives, learn coping skills to create a more balanced life and a healthier state of mind.
