Victoria Bynum, LMFT
Downtown San Diego
Vicki Bynum is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and Registered Art Therapist (ATR) at Foresight San Diego. She received her Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis on Marriage and Family Therapy and Art Therapy from Notre Dame de Namur University. She has experience working in Community-Based and School-Based Mental Health settings and Therapeutic Mentoring. Additionally, Vicki has a Masters Degree in Special Education. She worked as a Teacher for over 10 years and as a Therapist, she has supported youth and families who have loved ones with special needs. Vicki has experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, families, and groups. She has helped individuals with family and parenting support, stress and life management, improving mood, increasing self-esteem, gaining assertiveness, and using healthy communication to improve relationships.
Vicki approaches counseling from Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Attachment, Narrative, and Strengths-Based approaches. She also specializes in Art Therapy and uses it, when clients are willing, as an alternative way to help people communicate, process experiences, gain insight, and make positive changes. She understands it takes strength and courage to lean into a desire to participate in therapy and attempts to understand individual needs and hopes for the experience. She wants clients to feel comfortable and not end a session thinking, “She doesn’t get it” or “We didn’t talk about what I wanted to talk about”. Whether sorting through old patterns and creating new ones, learning how to manage stress and moments that are overwhelming, or maintaining positive changes that have already been made, Vicki believes therapy is an important tool to help people discover, and build on, their natural ability and strengths to heal, love, and live healthy and fulfilling lives.
