Ricka White-Soso, LCSW
Ms. Ricka L. White-Soso, MSW, LCSW, BIP, CEAT is a professional Social Worker whose special interests are community health issues including health disparities, health and wellness, violence prevention, foster and transitional youth advocacy and public service. She has been working in the behavioral health and social services field for the past 30 years.
Work in earlier years as a group home counselor moved Ms. Ricka to further her education, which lead her to the work she does today. She has a wealth of experience working in group home, residential, day treatment, foster/adoption agency, behavioral managed care, hospital and private practice settings with diverse populations from different backgrounds managing a variety of life issues.
Ms. White-Soso specialties include: general life adjustments, crisis intervention, grief and loss, substance abuse, trauma, mild to chronic medical conditions and illnesses, interpersonal violence (Domestic Violence, Abuse and Sexual Assault, Anger Management and CSEC/human trafficking), community violence, re-entry and adoption/foster care issues. Having the following specialized certifications have equipped her to work with members to manage these and other very sensitive life issues: Expressive Art Practitioner Certification (national), Sexual Assault Advocate Certification, Domestic Violence Counselor Certification and Batterers' Intervention Program Facilitator Certification.
She is eclectic in her therapeutic treatment style and selects interventions from different theoretical frameworks including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Holistic Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy and Expressive Art Therapy.
Building and maintaining rapport is Ms. White-Soso's priority throughout the time you work together as this is an important task in developing a strong therapeutic foundation and relationship. Together you will build from there leading to a journey of growth and healing.
