Rafael Forrett, LMFT
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
LIC NO. 124564
Pleasanton (Previously San Ramon)
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) at Foresight San Ramon. I earned myMaster’s Degree in Clinical Psychology, with a focus on Marriage and Family Therapy, at Cal State University Dominguez Hills. For over five years, I have worked in non-profit, justice-involved outpatient mental health settings. I have worked with a diverse population of people who suffer from a wide range of issues and assist them in developing adaptive coping mechanisms and skills to overcome life’s many difficult and unpredictable challenges.
I believe that therapy is most effective when treatment is tailored to address the unique issues of my clients. Thus, my therapeutic approach combines a strong cognitive-behavioral base with a client-centered focus and an eclectic perspective.
By drawing in different techniques from several therapeutic modalities, setting treatment goals that encourage practice of new skills that take advantage of individual strengths, and exercising understanding through empathy and positive regard, I collaborate with my clients to create a therapeutic environment that facilitates change and promotes personal growth. I have experience working with adults and older adults, using interventions and techniques from different modalities, including cognitive behavioral therapy, humanistic therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, strength-based approaches, mindfulness practices, and solution-focused approaches.
