Marston James, LMFT
Marston James, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT), works at Foresight Mental Health in West Hollywood. He received his Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology in 1996 from Antioch University Los Angeles. For more than 20 years Marston has provided depth-oriented psychotherapy services to many individuals and couples of various self-identities in effectively addressing issues of depression, anxiety, stress, and trauma, and in successfully working through relationship conflicts, difficult life transitions, and in removing barriers to reaching their potential. Marston utilizes approaches that are tailored to the individual's needs and desired goals. He provides a safe environment to assist individuals and couples to address past traumas as well as "unfinished family business" from childhood, to uncover possible hidden motives in their interactions in order to support more authentic relating, while emphasizing empathy, compassion, and understanding for what individuals have experienced and its impact on their lives. Marston has a passion for and expertise in assisting gay men and lesbians in overcoming oppressive forces within and without to live more authentic lives. Marston utilizes interventions from Jungian/psychoanalytic and object relations therapies, and cognitive-behavioral and strengths-based approaches.
