Laura R. Friedeberg is a culturally competent licensed marriage family therapist with 25+ years experience providing in-person and telehealth psychotherapy to adults, teens, families, and groups. She specializes in working with marginalized populations including LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, immigrant, and forensic.
Laura has extensive training in crisis management and trauma-informed treatment. Other specialty areas include substance abuse, depression, anxiety, grief/loss, caretakers, life transitions, relationship conflicts, and disaster mental health. Primary treatment modalities include CBT, attachment, existential, and mindfulness based practices including DBT. Her goal is to support her clients in developing healthy and secure connections with others and resilience skills..
She earned her Masters in Counseling Psychology from John F. Kennedy University in 1999 and MFT license in 2003.
Additionally, Laura has 20+ years of leadership experience with team culture development, clinical supervision, and program development/management.
Leadership positions include clinical supervision with John F. Kennedy University, Axis Community Health, and Asian Community Mental Health Services. She has held many positions on the Board of Directors of East Bay CAMFT. She is a living kidney donor and participates in advocacy around living organ donation.
She enjoys spending quality time with the special people in her life including adventures with canine son Sampson.
