Julie Bennett received her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of San Diego in 2018. She completed her undergraduate studies at Rutgers University in 2015, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She has worked in multiple clinical settings including inpatient psychiatric facilities, short term acute residential treatment (START) programs, and supportive housing. In these environments, she has worked with adults struggling from severe and persistent mental illness as well as co-occurring substance use. Julie has experience conducting individual therapy, group therapy, and psychosocial assessments.
Julie’s specialization areas include crisis intervention, substance use, anxiety and depression, psychosis, and anger management. She believes in utilizing evidence based practices that are tailored to each individual’s strengths and their current experiences. Julie often utilizes Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Narrative Therapy interventions.
