I am a License Clinical Social Worker with a Master’s in Social Work Degree from the California State University, Fullerton (CSUF). The focus for both my undergraduate and graduate programs were in community mental health. I also have a Pupil Personnel Services Credential (PPSC) from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). In my work as an LCSW, I use a strengths-based approach with every client to help empower them through difficult times. My hope is that clients understand that they have full potential and that limitations do not define a person. I enjoy supporting the community by providing a safe space to process difficult conversations and emotions. As an individual with a visual impairment, I am able to support and understand diverse populations who deal with accepting their own physical/learning disabilities along with any other mental health issue and diagnosis that life presents them. My parents immigrated from Mexico and growing up in a Latino household presented some difficulties with expressing thoughts and feelings in relation to my physical disability and other stressors. With this in mind, I am passionate about providing a supportive, empowering, and open environment to my clients in an effort to process similar and/or other challenges in their lives. I focus treatment by using a humanistic and client-centered approach and guide clients in implementing more adaptive coping skills that could be effective for overall mental health improvement. I tend to implement interpersonal psychotherapy techniques and some Cognitive Behavioral Therapy skills. I am committed in providing individual therapy to anyone interested in beginning to process their emotions, anxieties, past traumas, life transitions, and/or other barriers presented in their lives. I want to be the empathetic individual that I once needed as an adolescent to process and explore whatever you may be dealing with.
