I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with over a decade of experience in the Behavioral Health Recovery Services Field. I received my Master’s Degree in Counseling along with a certificate in Alcohol and/or Drug Counseling from a CADDE accredited program. I have extensive experience working with adolescents and their families involved in the Juvenile Justice system in a community based setting, provided therapeutic services within the various units at Juvenile Hall in San Mateo County, as well as coordinating services while acting as a primary therapist at Camp Glenwood (an alternative to Juvenile Hall). I have worked with adults in various Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) with a special emphasis in co-occurring concerns with substance abuse, trauma, and mental health. I have also worked in various School-Based Mental Health Settings addressing depression, anxiety, stress, family issues, gender and sexuality, and crisis management.
I approach therapy from a holistic and client-centered perspective; focusing on empathy, genuineness, and unconditional positive regard. Once the therapeutic relationship is built, I utilize various evidence based approaches to treatment, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused, and Harm Reduction. I believe in meeting members where they are while holding the utmost respect in their personal values, choices, and beliefs. I also bring a thorough understanding of how systemic, cultural, social, and personal factors affect all aspects of mental health. My approach aims to empower members to help make deep connections to not only themselves but to their identified communities at large.
