I am a licensed and board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with over a decade of experience as a nurse practitioner. Since 2021, I have focused on mental health, working primarily with children, teens, and young adults. I received advanced training at UCSF, which has shaped my evidence-based and patient-centered approach to care. I have expertise in neurodivergence and trauma-informed care and incorporate therapeutic modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and motivational interviewing. These are combined with thoughtful medication management to provide comprehensive support. My collaborative approach emphasizes empowering patients and tailoring care to their unique needs and goals.
What inspires me to work in the field of mental health care is the profound impact mental health has on every aspect of a person’s life. I am driven by the opportunity to help individuals navigate their challenges, discover resilience, and achieve greater well-being. Mental health care is a deeply human field—it allows me to connect with patients on a meaningful level, meet them where they are, and collaboratively work toward their goals. I am especially inspired by the diversity of human experiences and the privilege of supporting people from all walks of life. Whether addressing the complexities of neurodivergence, trauma, or other mental health challenges, I find it incredibly rewarding to witness patients reclaiming their lives and thriving. Knowing that my work can help someone lead a fuller, healthier life motivates me every day to continue learning, growing, and advocating for mental health care.
I believe that an individualized approach to treatment is essential for achieving the best outcomes in mental health care. To tailor my approach, I start by getting to know each patient as a unique individual, understanding not only their mental health needs but also their preferences, values, and life experiences. This collaborative process ensures that I am not just providing treatment, but working alongside my patients to develop a plan that feels meaningful and supportive to them. By engaging in shared decision-making, I provide patients with evidence-based information and involve them in the treatment process, ensuring they have a voice in their care. I also take the time to listen to their concerns, ask about their goals, and acknowledge any cultural or personal factors that may impact their treatment. This allows me to incorporate their preferences—whether that’s in choosing therapeutic interventions, medication options, or other aspects of care. My approach also emphasizes flexibility. As our understanding of the patient’s needs evolves, I adapt the treatment plan accordingly to maintain its effectiveness and relevance. By working collaboratively and focusing on the individual’s values, I strive to ensure that the care provided aligns with both their goals and the best practices in mental health care.
