My name is Ashley Stacy and I am an LMFT, and a CODA- child of deaf adult. I am fluent in American Sign Language, and it is one of the reasons I became a therapist to be able to provide direct services to those who identify as deaf and hard of hearing. I specialize in working with those who have experienced trauma, such as secondary trauma, intimate partner violence, and family violence. I work with those who have anxiety/depression, and are experiencing certain life transitions such as a new career, becoming a parent, or caregiver for ailing parents.
I am client-centered, which to me means I do believe the person I am working with in therapy is the expert on their life and just needs some unbiased, non-judgmental feedback and support in their life. I come from an empowerment model, and feminist theory and work as a sounding board with assertive feedback and helpful tools for the people I am working with in the therapeutic space. I work uniquely with each client and inquire as to what they want to get out of therapy. Some clients are coming to therapy for the first time, and I will give therapy 101, and introduction of how to make the most of their sessions.
